How can physical therapies help me?
Do you wake in the morning with pain and discomfort? Do you find it hard to shake minor illnesses or have you been suffering with a long-term condition that has damaged your quality of life?
Physical therapies assist our internal healing processes to work more efficiently, whether by triggering the body’s rest & repose response (the parasympathetic nervous system), lowering inflammation or helping the mind to relax and let go of stress. Aging and injury are not just a function of anatomy - they are a process of loss and adjustment. They can challenge how we see ourselves and are, quite often, a royal pain in the arse.
Sessions with Paul Silk give space and time to catch up with where you are at now, physically and mentally, and learn skills and attitudes to reduce pain and look forward a more physically able future.
Perhaps it was incorrect alignment that has finally taken its toll. Perhaps we have ignored our body's messages in pursuit of the ‘perfect performance’. Or maybe simply having repeated our everyday movements for 10 or 15 years has led to neck or back pain.
What does Acupuncture and Massage do?
The physical therapies offered by Paul Silk give your body new information. It can then unlearn bad habits and create new, better functioning patterns. Massage breaks down accumulation of waste products in the muscle fibres, or ‘knots’, which takes the pressure off the body’s nerve and hormone (endocrine) system. Furthermore, therapies such as acupuncture and [gua sha] can lower inflammation, and balance nerves that have become either over-sensitised or have ‘given up the ghost’ entirely.
